Tamil Padam was founded in January 1998, the year of the El Nino. Our first screening was Janakiraman followed by Aahaa. We teetered and tottered till we had our first blockbuster "JEANS". It was a watershed movie for Southern California and changed the movie viewing habits of Tamil Angelenos forever.

While we are approaching close to 100 movies over the years, the ones we are proud of are Jeans, Hey Ram, Padayappa, Alai Payuthey, Kandukondain Kandukondain, Rhythm, Minnale, Dumm Dumm Dumm, 12B, Pammal K Sambandham, Kannathil Muthamittal, Panchathanthiram, BOYS, Autograph etc., we have also had our share of box office bombs.

In this volatile and dynamic market place, two of the original founders Odai & Baskar remain at Tamil Padam and carry our their civic duty, alongwith fellow screeners to bring  Tamil movies to the big screen here in the movie Mecca of the world "Southern California".

How do we survive? Two reasons. First is "YOU", for your unconditional support over the years. Second our distributor, Thiru S. Chockalingam of TamilCinemaWorld who has been our sole supplier of movies over the years. His passion and dedication to this industry is unparalleled. To the two of you, we are eternally grateful for giving us an opportunity to be an entertaining catalyst in your lives.
